[ARCHIVED] PRESS RELEASE: Carlton County COVID-19 update 4/20/2020

Carlton County COVID-19 update 4/20/20

General Updates:

For updated case counts around the state, please continue to reference the situation map, updated by MDH daily at 11am here. The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) continues to do the main investigation of each case, and Carlton County Public Health staff will follow-up when needed.

Statewide, of the 2,470 lab-confirmed cases on MDH’s website, 237 are currently hospitalized and 1,202 no longer need isolation (recovered). The Moose Lake Correctional Facility has reported 13 lab-confirmed cases in inmates (these fall within the 37 total in Carlton County), 15 of which have recovered (MN Department of Corrections website).

Amid COVID-19 concerns, please remind your friends and family members to fill out their Census Form! Minnesotans are responding to the census at a faster rate than any other state. But there’s still work to be done -- 43% of households have yet to be counted. Families can fill out their census in one of three ways: online (www.my2020census.gov), by phone (1-844-330-2020), or by mail (all homes will receive a paper questionnaire if they do not first respond online or by phone).

COVID-19 Outdoor Recreation, Facilities and Public Guidelines have been outlined on the Minnesota Department of National Resources website.

Additional Health Recommendations:

Community Memorial Hospital is now offering CMH Telehealth with many of its providers. With this program, patients can have a secure conversation with their healthcare provider by simply using a device with a camera and internet connection, such as a smartphone. These appointments are available for:

  • Minor health issues or concerns
  • Chronic care management
  • Preventative care

During the visit, patients will be able to speak directly to the provider and both parties will be able to see each other and carry on a conversation just as they would with an in-person appointment, except there is no commute or parking issue, short wait times and you won’t have to leave the comfort of your home. There is no concerns about social distancing and the appointments will be billed the same as a regular office appointment. To schedule an appointment or for more information about CMH Telehealth, call 218.879.1271.

In addition to telehealth visits, Community Memorial Hospital is continuing to see patients for:

Well Child Visits, ages: Infant – 2,4,6,12,15 months, 12 years.

OB visits (Provider Discretion)

Acute Illnesses: Transfer to clinical resource nurse.

Lacerations

Injections for chronic conditions.

IUD removal/placements (provider Discretion)

As a reminder: if you need to see a doctor for any other need (urgent or not, including non-COVID-19 related) please do not hesitate to call your provider about your concerns, or go in to Urgent Care or the Emergency Room.
