Procedure/Required Documents
At this time, you do not need a title for your snowmobile. However, the State of Minnesota requires current registration stickers on all snowmobiles. You can register your snowmobile in person at any Carlton County Motor Vehicle Office. To register a snowmobile for the first time, you must provide the make, model, year, serial number, and engine size (measured in horsepower or cc's). The owner must also present a store receipt as proof of sales tax payment. If the snow mobile was purchased from a private party, no sales tax is required. License is valid for three calendar years. If you are renewing registration on a snowmobile, only your drivers license and registration number are required.
