Transportation (Oversize/Overweight/Entrance-Driveway) Permits
Minnesota Statutes authorize the road authority to regulate, by permit, the moving of a vehicle or combination of vehicles of a size or weight of vehicle or load exceeding the maximum specified in Minnesota Statutes, Chapter 169, exceeding the gross weight for which the vehicle is registered under Chapter 168, or otherwise not in conformity with the provisions of Chapter 169, upon any highway under the jurisdiction the road authority.

Carlton County regulates movement of oversize and overweight loads on roads under its jurisdiction by the following permits:
Please note, we have made changes to the ‘pertinent permit information’ section of the permit. This change adds escort requirements effective November 28, 2017.
You will receive email notification of approval of your moving permit. You must print out your approved permit and carry it with you during your move.
Fees
Permits will not be approved and valid until the associated fees are received by the office. Please allow adequate time for receipt of the permit fees and processing when planning your move.
